From December 9 to December 13 Prof. (FH) Mag. Julius Dem, MBA, Director of the BA studies, participated in the Ben Gurion University (BGU) staff week in Israel. The stay was funded by Erasmus+ K107 and the goal of this trip was to further strengthen Lauder Business School’s already close relationship with BGU, get to know representatives of other (European) universities, learn from best practice, and share common experiences with LBS’s Israeli and European partners. Universities from the following countries shared their experiences: Romania, Germany, Lithuania, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Austria (University of Innsbruck) and (via a virtual link) Brazil. Several expressed their interest in LBS and, likewise, enjoyed the exchange of knowledge with Prof. Dem. Furthermore, this trip successfully accomplished one of our core goals, namely to present LBS to future (exchange) students.

Part of the program was a Horizon 2020 session focusing on “Mobility and Internationalization at Home”. In addition to that, Prof. Dem, who has over a decade of experience integrating foreign students into the Austrian Higher Education system, had the honor of presenting LBS’s knowledge and experiences regarding “Student Diversity – Cultural & Academic Challenges”. As Prof (FH). Dem summarizes:

Our Israeli partners as well as the European Universities were very impressed with LBS’s professional approach towards to internationalization.

Over 450 BGU students attended the two-day university fair that introduced them to the exhibiting institutions, their programs and locations. Here, Prof. Dem was supported by our Israel-based Alumnus Razi Golan. Razi, who is professionally involved with online marketing and sales, proved, yet again, to be an excellent “sales-person” for LBS. Prof. Dem and Razi explained to the over 200 students who showed an interest in Lauder Business School the content and advantages of studying in the heart of Europe and in the city with the highest quality of living in the world. Another excellent ambassador for LBS who Prof. Dem met was Lavi H, a LBS student currently completing his exchange semester at BGU.

Before returning to Austria, Prof. Dem also took advantage of the opportunity to meet Moris L., Benjamin F., Eyal L., Yana K., Joel L., the five students who are currently on an exchange semester at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya. All these exchange students, though being very satisfied with their semester abroad, said that they were looking forward to the upcoming spring term back in Vienna.

Nevertheless, grasping this opportunity for a semester abroad and exploring this possibility of studying in Israel is highly recommended. For further information please go to our international site or contact one of our directors of studies, Prof. Csermely or Prof. Dem.
