Requirements: GMAT above 600, best 3 per program will be selected

Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) Program

The Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) Program is an educational program providing students with relevant research experience while they pursue a Masters’ degree at Lauder Business School (LBS). Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs) work with faculty on academic and research projects, both at LBS and in the field.

General activities may include the following:

– Performs supervised research under the direction of an LBS faculty member
– Engages in literature searches
– Performs data analysis
– Designs and prepares research experiments

Faculty members supervising GRAs should clearly define the students’ responsibilities at the beginning of the assistantship and provide feedback on how those responsibilities are being met.

Appointments are made on an annual or semester basis by the Directors of Studies on the basis of a recommendation by a faculty member or the submission of applications from students to an official Call for Applications by LBS.

No employment relationship exists between the LBS and graduate students in the Graduate Research Assistant Program. Intellectual property rights issues arising through the Graduate Research Assistant Program are regulated through §5.3 of the Educational Training contract.

Benefits: 50% reduction of the tuition fee that is valid for the semester following the announcement of this merit/scholarship by the Director of Studies.

Performance Scholarships

 
MERIT AWARD – AUSTRIAN FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND RESEARCH (IML/SFBA/IBA)

Requirements: Minimum requirement GA of 1.75 or below over 2 consecutive semesters. The student must be an Austrian or EU citizen, or they must have lived in Austria for the past five years and at least one of their parents must be a tax-payer in Austria, or have refugee status according to the Geneva Convention. The number of awards is predetermined based on the funds that LBS receives from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF).  No proactive application is required, recipients will be informed automatically.

Benefits: €750 – €1.500 per student (depending on the number of awards); the award is based on academic excellence and is only awarded to a small selection of best-performing students.

 

DIRECTOR’S LIST (IML/SFBA)

Requirements: Minimum requirement semester GA of 1.25 or below (based on first exam attempts with a minimum of 20 examined ECTS in the preceding semester at LBS). Students who have failed a course and students who have received an incomplete grade will not be eligible for the Director’s List. No proactive application is required, recipients will be informed automatically.

Benefits: 50% reduction of the tuition fee that is valid for the semester following the announcement of this merit/scholarship by the Director of Studies; names published in the Director’s List on the LBS website; bestowal of Directors’ List Certificate.

TUTORING PROGRAM (IML/SFBA)

Requirements: meritocratic (GPA) selection criterion that considers social skills as well as gender equality – 1 person per cohort for each master study program).

Benefits: 50% reduction of the tuition fee that is valid for the semester following the announcement of this merit/scholarship by the Director of Studies.

Task: Mentoring and tutoring students from various predefined courses.

 

ADVANCEMENT SCHOLARSHIPS (Förderungsstipendien) – AUSTRIAN FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND RESEARCH (IML/SFBA)

 

These scholarships are granted to exceptionally academically talented students to support their master’s thesis by covering expenses related to essential supplementary resources, such as literature, software licenses, funds for experimentation, and more. It’s important to note that living expenses are not eligible for coverage, and reimbursement for literature will be provided only if the work is subsequently included in the LBS library catalog.

Requirements: The student must be an Austrian or EU citizen, or they must have lived in Austria for the past five years and at least one of their parents must be a tax-payer in Austria, or have refugee status according to the Geneva Convention. The number of awards is predetermined based on the funds that LBS receives from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF). Proactive application is required – candidates must submit documents to Prof. (FH) Dr. Tamás Csermely, MSc at tamas.csermely@lbs.ac.at.

Required documents:
– a detailed budget (ideally an MS Excel file),
– evidence that you comply with the prerequisites above (scanned documents),
– a letter of support by your thesis supervisor confirming that she/he supports the idea and that additional funds are required to complete your thesis,
– a brief (1-page) description of the planned focus of your master thesis justifying why the additional funds and means are required.

Benefits: EUR 750.- EUR 3,600 per student (depending on the number of awards). The scholarship funds will be disbursed to students’ accounts either in September/October 2024 or upon submission of their master’s thesis if it occurs after the initial round.
