On November 27, 2017, Dr. Christian Reiner, Senior Researcher at Lauder Business School, participated in a workshop at the Austrian National Bank on economic education in Austrian schools. This workshop was part of the conference โ€œWirtschaftliche Allgemeinbildung hat Zukunft: 55 Jahre Geographie und Wirtschaftskundeโ€œ, organized by the University of Vienna. In particular, Dr. Reiner was asked to discuss the topic of macroeconomics together with other experts in one of the several workshops. He argued that there is a significant difference between how macroeconomics is taught at school and how it is presented in introductory courses at universities. A modern presentation of macroeconomics should take into account the following dimensions: history, ecology, innovation, inequality and institutions.
