As of the spring 2025 semester, the LBS International Management and Leadership (IML) Master´s students, as well as those enrolled in the MBA and the EMBA programs, can learn to master business analytics and use SAS-related tools to advance their future career paths on top of their existing curricula.
Last spring, LBS enriched its curriculum portfolio with a SAS Risk Analytics and Data Science certificate for the Strategic Finance and Business Analytics (SFBA) Master´s students. This year, the SAS certificate in Business Analytics and Data Science was added to the other Master programs at LBS.
To be eligible for the SAS Certificate on Business Analytics & Data Science, students must complete a series of requirements which include both mandatory coursework within the main curriculum and additional elements which students must complete independently. The mandatory coursework for the International Management & Leadership (IML) Master´s students includes finishing the Statistics course taught by Dr. Bicici, the Quantitative Data Analytics and Data Science course taught by Dr. Rabas and the Quantitative Business Analysis course taught by Andrew Wood, BSc, ACA. The mandatory coursework components of the SAS Certificate for the MBA/EMBA students are the Statistics and Business Analytics course taught by Prof. (FH) Dr. Mag. Baillie, CAP, CBAP, PMP, FRM.
In addition to the mandatory coursework, students in both programs must proactively complete the following steps to be eligible for the certificate: attend one of the SAS Analytics Schools, which are offered quarterly, present a solution to a case study following the SAS Analytics School, complete a 21-hour course on “Statistics you need to know for machine learning,” and finally, complete a 30-hour course on Visual Modelling in the SAS Skill builder system. Finally, students must also pass the “SAS certified Associate: Modelling using SAS Visual Statistics” exam.
The certificate aims to equip students with a robust skillset in business analytics and data science using software that is at the forefront of industry standards due to its market leader status. With a strong emphasis on practical application through case study presentations and the inclusion of courses covering essential statistical concepts for machine learning and visual modeling techniques, LBS aims to bring industry recognition and value to its degree programs and enhance the skill development and relevance of our graduates´ diplomas.
SAS analytics skills are among the top 21 traits considered most valuable by employers, revealed an extensive study conducted by MONEY and Payscale.com. Conducted across 350 industries, the study analyzed over 54 million employee profiles and revealed that capable SAS users are in increasing demand on the global job market, and have an increased professional visibility. SAS certification lists the possessor in the Directory of SAS Certified Professionals, making their credentials easily accessible to potential employers. As companies come to rely more and more on Big Data, having a SAS Certification offers career opportunities for anyone interested in working in industries relying on Big Data to analyze complex datasets, generate actionable insights, and drive data-driven decision-making. SAS certification demonstrates proficiency in using advanced analytics tools and techniques, which are increasingly in demand across industries like healthcare, finance, retail, manufacturing, and technology. With the ability to work on predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis, professionals with a SAS certification are well-positioned to secure high-paying roles such as data analysts, business intelligence developers, and data scientists in a competitive job market.
Lauder Business School is grateful to Markus Grau, Global Academic Program Manager – SAS, for his support, and to Prof. (FH) Dr. Mag. Baillie, Andrew Wood, Dr. Bicici and Dr. Rabas for their continuous support in developing our students´ potential.
