On December 3, 2019, LBS hosted the 6th fireplace talk out of a talk series organized by FHWien der WKW and LBS in the frame of a collaborative project (“Internationalization@home”) funded by the City of Vienna, MA23. As an essential part of the project, the fireplace talks are meant to serve as a networking platform for lecturers of both universities.
This fireplace talk was held by Claudia Falkinger, Senior Innovation Strategist at ÖBB and lecturer at LBS. She presented her topic “The age of prototyping – how we can create an innovative future by iterating our way forward” from various angles and gave insights into innovation processes at ÖBB. Claudia showed various examples of prototyping and iterations, pointing out that early exposure to customers and the integration of feedback loops are vital steps for creating an innovative product. This requires, however, a stimulating organizational culture that allows and encourages creativity, learning, trial but also failure. With an interactive prototyping game, Claudia invited the participants to iterate their own prototypes. The talk was concluded by a lively discussion over fingerfood and drinks.
The next fireplace talks will take place in spring term 2020. Topics, speakers and venues will be announced.
