Lauder Business School had the honour of receiving the visit of two board members from the U.S. quality assurance agency Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) on campus. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, Lauder Business School began the extensive process of getting its study programs recognised for their quality in the Unites States. The recent visit emphasizes the LBS continued commitment to academic excellence.
On 25 May, we were delighted to welcome Professor Deborah M. Gaspard, Member of the Board of Directors, and Mr. Oliver Olson, the Director of European Operations at ACBSP, and show them our school´s beautiful surroundings, its heritage and history.
Founded in 1988, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) is a global business education accrediting body and offers accreditation to all levels of collegiate business educational degree programs including Bachelor and Master’s programs. ACBSP assesses whether or not business programs offer a rigorous educational experience and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
In order to determine the value of a business program, ACBSP focuses on three major aspects: recognising teaching excellence, determining student learning outcomes, and seeing a continuous improvement model in the program. To accomplish this, they assess the quality of a program´s aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, academic programs, faculty credentials, and educational support. ACBSP’s student-centred teaching and learning approach ensures, through their rigorous assessment, that students gain the right skills from their educational investment.
In light of the ongoing process of obtaining the ACBSP accreditation, our distinguished visitors came to Lauder Business School to meet the staff, learn more about LBS and tour our culturally rich campus. Their visit was part of a wider European tour aimed at reconnecting with local partners and ACBSP members post Covid-19. During their visit, they had a chance to gain a first-hand account of LBS’ services, study programs and facilities, and were impressed by the beautiful LBS campus with its library, seminar rooms, office building and dormitory.
They also had a chance to personally meet Alexander Zirkler, Executive Director for Lauder Business School, Prof. (FH) Mag. Julius Dem, MBA, Director of Studies International Business Administration, and Birgit Wakonig, BSc, MSc, Quality Manager for Lauder Business School. Besides receiving an account of Lauder Business School´s history, mission and rich cultural heritage, the ACBSP guests were also assured of Lauder Business School´s intent on further collaboration. Both the Lauder Business School and ACBSP representatives agreed upon the next steps in the accreditation process and concluded that the mandatory accreditation audit will be carried out in 2022.
Once the ACBSP accreditation is obtained, all students graduating onward from LBS will benefit from international recognition of their LBS diploma, including in the US.
