On Thursday, January 26, 2017, LBS students had the opportunity to visit the new Erste Bank Campus in Vienna. The event was a continuation of Chairman of the Board of Erste Group AG Mag. Andreas Treichl’s Fireplace Talk at LBS. The visit was organized by the LBS Career Center with the aim to present the Erste Bank Group as an attractive employer to LBS students. It was divided into two parts: an introduction to the state-of-the-art Erste Bank Campus and an open discussion with the Head of Employer Branding and Recruiting, Mr. Christian Dorfinger.

The guided tour gave the students general information about Erste Bank Campus and offered an overview of the premises. 4 500 employees work on campus in approximately 20 different companies, holdings and subsidiaries spread throughout the premises. With 2 500m2 of land, the campus is divided into 6 interconnected main buildings that include not only office space but also restaurants, cafes, kindergarten, health, and charity premises.

The new workplace concept was developed by the architects according to the core values of Erste Bank, i.e. accessibility, simplicity and growth. With this in mind, the campus was designed as an open space and a mobile working environment. The importance of buildings was once more highlighted with Churchill’s quote: “We shape our buildings, and afterwards, our buildings shape us.” The entire open space concept is built on activity-based working and is adapted to the various needs of employees. The policy of changing desks and rooms leads to more interaction and teamwork among the employees.

In the second part of the tour, LBS students discussed career opportunities with the Head of Recruiting, Mr. Dorfinger. He emphasized the changes in the world of banking and new trends setting the agenda, especially in the fields of digitalization, database management, risk management and compliance. As an employer, Erste Bank offers various possibilities for students, ranging from internships and traineeships to graduate programs. For some positions, as in Erste Bank Holding for example, German is not a prerequisite, as the company language is English.

LBS Career Center invites all interested students to explore Erste Bank Group career opportunities in their career portal and wishes lots of success in the application process.
