The 3rd-semester students of LBS’s International Business Administration (IBA 2014) program visited Microsoft Austria as part of their Corporate Communication class with Dr. Kristin Engelhardt.

When the Microsoft building was redesigned in 2011 the offices were transformed into a totally new world of work with modern flexible rules of cooperation and communication. The students gained knowledge of the new architecture and the way a social enterprise functions. Demonstrations showed them how employees communicate with SharePoint, Yammer, Skype, and OneNote. The visit increased the students’ understanding as to why and how Microsoft became a Great Place to Work.

Microsoft has been represented in Austria since 1991. 340 employees work in the headquarters in Vienna today. Besides, there is an R&D subsidiary in Graz.
